Adults
Anxiety
I have expertise with adults who are experiencing a broad range of anxiety problems, including panic attacks, phobias, social-anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behaviors (OCD), and generalized anxiety. Cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) is by far the most scientifically supported treatment for these problems. CBT can help to free clients from their fears, allowing them to experience a more rewarding life. CBT for anxiety offers a variety of practical strategies for reducing and coping with anxiety.
Depression
If you are feeling depressed or don't seem to enjoy activities that you once did, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is an effective way to start to feel happier and be better able to deal with life's challenges. Depression is often in response to a loss, a problem with a loved one, or a life transition. CBT can help with all of these situations. When someone is depressed, he or she can experience suicidal thoughts. For an excellent overview of how CBT can help with suicidal thoughts, please click on this New York Times article.
Anger
Anger problems can seriously interfere with job success, relationships, and overall wellbeing. CBT offers practical and manageable tools for understanding anger triggers and coping with anger once it strikes. CBT offers alternative behaviors to anger outbursts and can make a huge change in quality of life.
Work and Relationship Problems
If you are having difficulties with other people (coworkers, loved ones), cognitive-behavioral therapy can provide insight into what is going wrong. I offer skills-based approaches for making relationships much more fulfilling and less frustrating.
